Abstract

Ternary CdSexS1−x alloy quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized using a wet chemical method. Their morphology, particle size, structural, optical, and vibrational properties were investigated using transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, UV–Vis, fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. The optical and vibrational properties of the QDs can be controlled by adjusting the Se/S molar ratio. The absorption and emission peaks shift to a longer wavelength range when increasing the Se content. The presence of two CdSe-like and CdS-like longitudinal optical phonon modes was observed. The dependencies of the optical and phonon modes on the Se content are discussed in detail.
